Sleep in a Capsule

If you're like me, you thought it was pretty neat in The Fifth Element when passengers on long flights got their own private sleeping chambers. Now you can get almost the same experience (in hotel form) at the Capsule Inn Akihabara in Tokyo. Your sleeping capsule comes equipped with TV, radio, alarm clock and adjustable lighting. Kinda reminds me of the "coffin hotels" in Neuromancer.

HD DVD is dead! Long live Blu-Ray!

The shortest format war ever is over! Toshiba has admitted to abandoning the format and will phase out all player production by the end of the year. The move leaves HD DVD owners zero recourse for their suddenly useless movie collections and players...and PS3 owners nodding smugly as they have been for the past six months. To all those who bought an HD DVD player this holiday season for themselves or a loved one:

[editors note: guess which gaming system happens to be hooked up to this monster]

Blu-ray Continues to Kick HD-DVD in the Proverbial Nuts

In a development that shocked no one at all, Netfilx today decided to follow suit with Blockbuster and drop HD DVD like a bad habit. In fact, lets savor that for a moment. Here, have another link. What's that? Best Buy dropped them too? In the same day? Ouch.

HD DVD now joins the N-Gage, Tequiza and Windows ME as the worst fucking ideas in the history of product development.

Great Food & Wine Site

The Epicentre is actually an Australian company that sells exotic spices. While their spice collections are pretty cool in their own right, the site has an amazing amount of other great stuff: recipes, articles on wine, an encyclopedia of spices, lots of info on Aussie food, beer, bush-tucker and even the history of Vegemite. Definitely worth a look.
